From posters, interactive media, youtube ads and the likes, the National Reading Month kicks off with an event which will cater to the book worms, avid and non-avid readers alike.Kids and adults alike will surely enjoy the activities prepared for them on the Book Convention and the School Tours during the National Reading Month. A brief Background: Last 2011, during the term of Noynoy Aquino, DepEd, under the directives of Education Secretary Armin Luisto declared that November will be the National Reading Month in support for the “Every Child a Reader Program or ECARP”.The National Reading month culminated with an event called “Araw ng Pagbasa” at the end of the month during the same year. National Reading Month 2014 In an effort to bring awareness on the importance of reading to the youth, the National Book Development Board, together with DepEd, prepared a month long activity which will commence on November and will have different events.There are interactive puzzles that we can solve to get to the next clue which will later then reveal the details of the Book Convention. Puzzle 1 An example of the puzzles There will also be school tours which not only will promote the Book Convention but also give talks and fun activities for students and teachers as well. The day will be filled with activities such as poetry reading, games, booth, story telling and talks from prominent people on the world of Philippine literature such as:

  1. Lualhati Bautista
  2. Ricky Lee
  3. Jessica Zafra
  4. Mina Esguerra (Wattpad author – My Imaginary Ex)

The month-long activity will be capped of with a Book Convention that will be held at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay, Manila, Philippines on November 23-29, 2014. There will be lots of surprises on the week long event. The event will also be a fund raising event wherein the funds that will be gathered from this will be used for a cause. The proceeds will be used to produce books and collected book donations will be donated at different “hard-to-reach” or education-deprived places around he Philippines.
